Gludo

Dear Readers,

Exciting news ! Our friends at Gludo are working hard and have recently launched an app. Here’s  a quick note on what they are up to. Try them out! :

Gludo is an eCommerce aggregator launched in 2015. It cuts through the clutter in eCommerce to make products from the largest eCommerce sites in India available in a single, fast mobile app at the best price for end-users as well as physical retailers buying for end-users. Gludo is currently available as Android and iOS Apps as well as on the web (http://www.gludo.com).

Good news for iOS 9 users!

App is working again…yay!

All you have to do now is update from the App Store.

Sorry for the inconvenience, you can always reach us at support@yardsailr.com in case of questions.

Happy YardSailr!

Site Issues

3/15/2016: We just discovered that those of you using iOS9 on your devices may be having some trouble getting into the app. You may be seeing the image below. If you are then you’re not alone. Unfortunately our latest release to the app store broke something. But fear not! We have a fix for it and it will be in the app store very soon.

In the meantime, and we know this can be an inconvenience, you can still access the site by either using your computer or mobile browser and going to this link: http://app.yardsailr.com

This link works exactly like the app, there should be no difference. We hope that will work for you in the short term.

Thank you for your patience!

Mark it Sold!

So many of you asked us via the support channels – how to mark an item as sold?

We always used to think our customers would find it intuitive enough to mark their items as sold once they were done with it. But hey, what do we know!

You talked and we listened – today we added a new featured that will allow you to mark the item as sold. And that too single item. No need to scroll down to the item list any more, just use the Mallet icon on top and be done with it. You can read about it here: https://yardsailr.groovehq.com/knowledge_base/topics/how-to-mark-an-ad-if-with-single-item-as-sold

We think you’ll find it easy enough, but tell us what you think here: support@yardsailr.com

We are always open to opinions!

Can’t wait to hear from you.

Introducing the Featured tab

We at YardSailr have been working hard to release a couple new features. So here goes -

Featured Tab

There is now a new tab called Featured. You can get to it simply by opening the sidebar and pressing Featured. Many YardSailrs have been putting a lot of effort into adding lots of pictures to their ads (thank you!). We thought they deserve extra attention – so from now on certain ads with pictures will be shown on the Featured tab.
Would you like your ad on the Featured tab as well? It’s easy – all you have to do is to upload at least one picture and that’s it!

Browse Tab

Ok this is not a new feature :) We thought it would be easier for YardSailrs if we called the Shop tab Browse. After all browsing is fun, isn’t it?

So, do write to us about what you think. Are you looking for something new, have requests – email us at support@yardsailr.com. We are listening.

Trying to Sell?

Add Multiple Pictures

There are, of course, a number of different apps and websites out there that allow you to sell your personal belongings. Because of that, you may be asking yourself why you should choose YardSailr. Well, the answer is simple. YardSailr, unlike many of the other options out there, allows you to sell items in bulk. This makes the process of listing your items much easier, and it gives you a much better opportunity to make money through selling them.

Other Apps and Websites

With other apps and websites, you’ll have to list your items one at a time. Take, for example, the wildly popular Craigslist, which is what many people first think of when they’re going to sell something through the Internet.

If you’re going to be listing only one item, Craigslist can work great. However, if you’re going to be selling more than one thing – after a bout of spring cleaning, for example – then Craigslist, and other websites and apps like it, can become more trouble than they’re worth.

With them, you’ll have to list each item individually. As they’re uploaded, they’ll get shuffled in with all of the other items that people are selling. This creates two problems. First, it locks you into selling one item at a time. It’s not possible for a potential buyer to purchase the item that you’re selling and something else that you have on offer. Also, you’ll have to keep track of and update multiple listings, which is a huge pain in the you-know-what.

YardSailr Makes Things Easier

YardSailr is an app that focuses upon garage sales. Because of this, it’s been designed from the ground up to allow sellers to offer items in bulk. With it, you only have one sale to keep track of, which saves you time and gives you the opportunity to upsell and cross-sell people who are interested in your items. Further, any and all communication that you have with potential buyers is handled directly through the app. This means that you do not need to keep track of and update multiple listings.

How to Sell Your Items with YardSailr

Getting your garage sale and all of its items online is so easy! Once you’ve downloaded the app, you simply need to swipe to the right, and then tap on the word “Sell”. After that, simply click the plus icon in the bottom left corner, and you’ll be taken to the page where you can outline the terms of your garage sale. Simply enter the dates, location and the categories of items that you’ll have on offer, and then enter a name for your sale. After that, tap on “save and add items” in the bottom right corner.

You’ll then be taken to the page where you can add each of your items. You’ll see that across the top there are four places for you to provide pictures. To fill those out, simply tap them, take the picture, and save. That’s it. After that, all you need to do is add the name of your item, and then the price that you’ll be selling it for. To add the next item, simply tap “save and add another” on the bottom right. When you’re done, hit “save”, and then your garage sale is online and ready for buyers.

So what do you think? Simply head to your mobile device’s app store and download it. The rest is easy!

YardSailr When It’s Cold Outside

Although many regions across the country may not believe it, spring is coming. But, there are still several weeks of winter left, and there always seems to be more snow in the forecast. This is terrible news for people who are eagerly anticipating spring-cleaning season, as they no doubt are looking forward to hosting a yard sale to get rid of all those no-longer-needed items that are cluttering up the home.

Thankfully, there’s a solution to this problem, as there is a way that you can host a yard sale right now, even if you’re buried underneath a foot of snow with more on its way. That solution is called YardSailr, and it’s an app that allows you to host a yard sale at any time of the year, regardless of the weather.

YardSailr Makes it Easy to Host an Online Yard Sale

How is it possible to have a yard sale with several feet of snow on the ground, you ask? Well, it’s easy when that yard sale is hosted online. Once you’ve downloaded and installed the YardSailr app on your mobile device, you’ll find that hosting an online yard sale is as simple as a few taps of your thumb. You can specify the date range of your sale and it’s location. Further, you can upload as many items as you want to the sale, and all with multiple pictures so that your potential buyers can get a really good idea of what it is that they can purchase. Because you’ll be able to display all of your items online, you won’t have to worry about doing heavy lifting. Rather than carrying items out to the garage, where it will be cold, you can simply leave them where they are in your home.

If a buyer finds an item of yours that they’re interested in, they can contact you right through the app. This saves you the hassle of having to have a face-to-face interaction, and allows you to stay in the driver’s seat of your own yard sale. Provided that you and the buyer can agree on terms, you can conduct the whole sale right online, without ever having to leave the warmth and comfort of your own home. Because of this, many of your neighbors are getting a head start on their spring cleaning during the winter months and putting extra money in their pockets. And that’s all happening while both they and you are snowed in!

YardSailr is For Shopping, Too

Snowy winters don’t just prevent people from having yard sales; they also prevent people from getting out and shopping too. In the same way that YardSailr allows people to host their own yard sales when it’s snowing outside, so too does YardSailr allow people to shop.

It’s as simple as logging into the app and searching for the items that you’re looking for. To do this, you simply have to go to the main menu and tap on “Search”. From there, you can enter the name of the item that you’re looking for and then see if there are any on offer. If you just want to browse, that’s not a problem either. You can browse yard sales by category, or you can simply look to see what’s on offer in your immediate area. If you find something you want, simply contact the seller to arrange the sale. Likely, neither of you will even have to leave the comfort of your own homes to conduct the transaction!

Of course, you may prefer to actually visit that yard sales happening in your area. Because YardSailr lets you know about all of the ones happening around you, you won’t have to drive around aimlessly, getting out of your car and braving the cold just to check around. Instead, you can exchange messages with sellers from your car, and head directly to places where yard sales are happening. This is ideal when the elements are harsh!

What Are You Waiting For?

Don’t waste the days while you’re snowed in binging on television shows when you could be getting a head start on your spring cleaning! Download YardSailr today and host your own digital yard sale. Both your wallet and the cluttered areas of your home will thank you for it!

Tips for Effective Garage Sale Shopping

Some people have all the luck when it comes to garage sales and yard sales. They find the coolest items for the cheapest prices. If you know someone like this, all summer long you’ll be jealous of them. Every Saturday and Sunday, it seems like, they’re posting pictures to Instagram or Facebook, showing off the great deals they got on old kitchen mixers, bicycles, and antique clocks.

Well, guess what. Your friend with the “great luck” at yard sales isn’t getting “lucky”. No, they’re implementing strategies to be an effective and prosperous garage sale shopper. Follow these tips, and maybe they’ll be jealous of you next weekend.

Check Out What’s For Sale Ahead of Time

Check our mobile app before you leave the house. You’ll not only find where and when people will be selling their old stuff, but you can also check what they’re selling, too. Take a minute to gloss through the pictures of the items for sale. You can use this knowledge to rank which garage sale you hit first.

If you were just strategizing your garage sale day based on where the sales were, you could save a bit of gas, but you might lose that amazing, antique vase or bed stand. Prioritize the garage sales with the best items, and you’ll be more likely to get the things you want.

Be a Negotiator

Remember, you’re not shopping at a retail store. You’re shopping at someone’s home, and they want to make some extra money and get rid of their old stuff. That means that the prices aren’t fixed. Don’t be afraid to haggle over items that you think are priced too high.

Don’t Look Rich

You’re not going to show up to a yard sale in Pradas and an Armani suit, of course, but make sure that you don’t show up in yoga pants that cost $100, either. You don’t want to look like you have a lot of money to throw around. If you do, you’re not likely to get the seller to come down on the price much, if any.

Do an End-of-the-Day Sweep

You can’t hit every garage sale the minute that the seller opens their cashbox. That’s why we recommend that you prioritize garage sales, yard sales, and estate sales based on what you want to buy. However, at the end of the day, you can find some really killer deals on some unexpected items. Remember, the seller really doesn’t want to have to deal with this stuff anymore. Offer to take it off their hands, and you’ll get it for a song.

Search a sale on your iPhone or Android

I thought about writing on a specific usability aspect of YardSailr today. YardSailr lets you search for specific garage sales in a certain area. You can click on a map and quickly find out what are the different garage sales happening in an area.

But that’s not it. YardSailr goes beyond just the map. It lets you search on a specific item as well.

So let’s say you’re looking for an old Schwinn bike, or an antique Trek bike from the 1980s.

You can use the Search feature in the sidebar. Just press search (see below)

image

And enter the word ‘Trek’ or ‘Schwinn’. It doesn;t stop there – you can just look up the Sports category if you like, to get a general idea of what kind of bikes are listed on YardSailr (see below)

Check out the list of categories and see what interests you. And don’t forget to tell us if you’d like to see more features in the app. We would love to hear from you! Just head on to our website: yardsailr.com and use the Contact Us form

Sell bulk items

Are you a habitual seller on eBay? eBay can be a real profitable channel for your business. Specially because it has a much wider audience – you can easily sell to buyers that are hundreds of miles away from you.

However, over the years eBay fees have increased. And the fees can multiply if you have lots of items to sell – toys, coins, clothes, bikes – things can add up. And the costs too.

A garage sale can be a good alternative, specially during the summers.  Craigslist is definitely another way to go about selling stuff.

And now with mobile and smartphones becoming more and more common, it’s getting easier by the day to buy and sell bulk items. That;s where we come in! YardSailr lets you add bulk items – lots of them – at the same time. You can post 1 or 100 if you like – there isn’t a limit. It doesn’t stop there. You can take multiple pictures of each item and put a price before posting. After you post, our app will put your garage sale on a local map, right away!!

Anyone looking to buy stuff can get to your ad by just looking up the map. If the buyer likes what you’re selling (read our other post here to get tips on how to make your garage sale successful), they can immediately contact you via the messaging system inbuilt in our app. It’s as simple as that!

YardSailr is a simple app to help you save time on selling bulk items. Try it here and let us know what you think.
